MEADOWLANDS, NEW JERSEY
truss tower
The design for this project takes inspiration from the natural environment of birds, creating a space that merges seamlessly with the birds’ natural habitat. The aviary and watchtower are the perfect vantage points to observe the birds as they soar through the sky, hop around on branches, and sing their melodious tunes.
The design of the aviary is intended to create a sense of openness and freedom, allowing the birds to fly around and play in their natural environment. The supports for the watchtower are designed to create a series of open spaces that are perfect for birdwatching enthusiasts to explore and discover the beauty of nature.
But wait, the real adventure begins as one climbs the stairs to reach the watchtower. The unique aspect of this design is the experience of moving vertically through architectural space, offering one a completely different perspective on the natural world around them. Unlike a tower, which typically provides a direct path upward with minimal interruption or interaction with the surrounding environment, moving vertically through architectural space allows for a more dynamic and varied experience. As one ascends the stairs, the awe-inspiring views of the aviary and the surrounding landscape will take their breath away.
Finally, as one reaches the top of the watchtower, they will be rewarded with an incredible panoramic view of the entire aviary and the surrounding city. This is the perfect spot to capture stunning photographs of the birds as they fly past, and to simply enjoy the beauty of nature.
